When auditing I-9 files, if a current employee provided permanent resident card or a resident alien card at time of employment do you have to re-verify if it shows an expiration date on those two types of proof of eligibility to work in U.S?

Yes. When any document that controls or affects the person’s authorization to work in the U.S. expires, the new document information must be recorded in Section 3 of the I-9.
