Hey Warriors!

Welcome to the first of my new Members Only Pop-up Webinars for 2017. I am planning to do these when news is breaking or when there is just a really great topic I need to address. Please comment and let me know if you like this format. They will be short and you are welcome to ask questions in the comment section. Yay!

Enjoy and BeAuditSecure!

Hey compliance warriors, Lisa Smith here. I am just getting started with my new project for 2017, which is going to be pop up webinars. I have been thinking about this for a long time, and I know that sometimes when I say we are going to do a webinar on Wednesday at one o’clock, sometimes it’s kind of hard to plan specifically , or you try to plan and something comes up at the last minute. So I thought, why plan? Why not just do pop up webinars and make them short, that way you don’t have to set aside an hour to an hour and a half every time and I can do more of them. I can post them at be audit secure dot com and I can also post them up in the Facebook group and we can use them in a variety of ways. I thought this would be a really good day, to just try one. So today is January the 5th and it is Thursday. I just want to say welcome back from the holidays I’m sure you all are so excited to be back to work. As we know we had an implementation date set December first 2016 and then of in the middle of November we had a judge in Texas who heard a case that was brought forward by 21 states, along with some small business groups that were protesting the final rule saying it’s too hard on businesses. So the judge in Texas heard the case and issued a temporary injunction. What that means is that the Department of Labor now has the opportunity to appeal that injunction and as far as we know, they are planning to. It’s set to be on an expedited track because clearly we have been talking about this since March of 2014 and it’s been a big push by the Obama administration to get this put through and raise wages and get more people the overtime they deserve.
