BREAKING NEWS: DOL Fines for Posting Violations Have Increased

Hey Compliance Warriors!

The DOL has made it official! Penalties for violations of employment law posting requirements have increased for 2021.

Effective January 16th, 2021 the new maximum penalty/fine amounts are:

  • Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA): $178                  29 CFR 825.300(a)
  • Job Safety and Health: It’s the Law (OSHA): $13,653    29 CFR 1903.15(d)(5)
  • Employee Polygraph Protection Act (EPPA): $21,663   29 CFR 801.42(a)
  • Fair Labor Standards Act: $2074                                     29 CFR 578.3(a)

These are only a few of the fines that could be assessed. Employers can stay in compliance by displaying up-to-date federal, state and locally required labor law posters in areas where employees are readily able to view them.

Remote employees are also required to receive the current and updated posters as changes occur.
